This paper is about analyze the representations of black women in the work of the painter Ernesto Cuesta Esteris. The relationship between art and representation is presented, from the approaches in which issues of gender and raciality and their historical and cultural causes have been treated. Next, the concept of social representations and its relationship with the language of images is addressed; how these representations materialize in the artistic field of the territory in which the creative act takes place, the intersections with other markers of social differentiation that make up the identity of black women; to conclude with the representations captured by the artist in the works that are analyzed. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar las representaciones de las mujeres negras en la obra del pintor Ernesto Cuesta Esteris. Se presenta la relación entre arte y representación, desde los enfoques en que se han tratado las cuestiones sobre género y racialidad y sus causas históricas y culturales. A continuación, se aborda el concepto de representaciones sociales y su relación con el lenguaje de las imágenes; cómo se materializan dichas representaciones en el campo artístico del territorio en que se produce el acto creativo, las intersecciones con otros marcadores de diferenciación social que conforman la identidad de la mujer negra; para concluir con las representaciones plasmadas por el artista en las obras que se analizan.
