Descripción This text seeks to reflect on the failure of the development models implemented in Latin America and based on the wrong relationship between economic growth and democracy. In the current neoliberal context this fallacy continues to be disclosed. It is useful to strengthen the new transnational oligarchic pact but it has no use to think the relationship between modernization and democracy. In this sense the article advances in the proposal of a solidary republicanism that can politically assess the issue of the common good. We must understand by solidary republicanism a republicanist pact oriented towards the organization of the democratic experience from the emphasis on the common good and on the social, cultural and political pluralism as a central condition for the maintenance of the national society open to the global.
Descripción Este texto busca reflexionar sobre el fracaso de los modelos de desarrollo implantados en América Latina y que se fundaban en la relación equivocada entre crecimiento económico y democracia. En el actual contexto neoliberal esta falacia sigue siendo divulgada. Es útil para fortalecer el nuevo pacto oligárquico transnacional, de carácter financiero e informacional, pero no tiene uso para pensar la relación entre modernización y democracia. En este sentido el artículo avanza en la propuesta de un republicanismo solidario que pueda valorar políticamente el tema del bien común. Entiéndase por tal expresión, republicanismo solidario, un pacto republicanista orientado hacia la organización de la experiencia democrática a partir del énfasis en el bien común y en el social, cultural y político como condición central para la manutención de la sociedad nacional abierta hacia la globalidad.
