Descripción At the beginning of, the year 2020, the Academic Council of the University of Panama approved the modification of the enrollment calendar and start of classes for the first semester of the academic year 2020, starting classes in a non-face to face mode on April 20, ending on July 25, 2020. The teaching staff of the School of English, as well as colleagues from all the faculties resorted to the use of technological equipment and tools. This work is a descriptive study, identifying the perception in the use of digital resources employed by the teachers of the School of English during the first semester of 2020 in the face of the enforcement of virtual classes due to health restrictions imposed by COVID-19 Global Pandemic. A questionnaire distributed through Microsoft Forms® was applied to all teachers who taught at the English School during the study period and the variables of the unit of analysis (teachers), digital resources and perceptions that facilitate teaching are measured. Statistical data exhibit a preference for digital resources adapted to the course program, practicality in the application of tests, synchronous and asynchronous communication, added to the perception of ease of use by teachers. The result shows Google Classroom as a comprehensive tool with the highest perception of ease of use and usefulness in class preparation and development.
Descripción Al inicio del año 2020, la Universidad de Panamá aprobó en Consejo Académico la modificación del calendario de matrícula e inicio de clases del primer semestre para el año 2020; iniciando clases en modalidad no presencial el 20 de abril, finalizando el 25 de julio de 2020. El cuerpo docente de la Escuela de Inglés igual que los colegas de todas las facultades recurrió al uso de equipo y herramientas tecnológicas. Este trabajo es un estudio descriptivo, identificando la percepción en el uso de recursos digitales utilizados por los docentes de la Escuela de Inglés durante el primer semestre 2020 debido a la urgencia de dictar clases no presenciales por las restricciones sanitarias impuestas por la Pandemia Mundial del COVID-19. Se aplicó un cuestionario distribuido a través de Microsof Forms® a todos los docentes que impartieron clases en la Escuela de Inglés durante el período de estudio y se miden las variables de la unidad de análisis (docentes), recursos digitales y percepción de los recursos que facilitan la enseñanza. Los datos estadísticos muestran una preferencia por los recursos digitales que se adecuan al programa del curso, practicidad en aplicación de pruebas, comunicación sincrónica y asincrónica, sumadas a la percepción de la facilidad de uso por los docentes. El resultado se inclina a Google Classroom como herramienta integral con la mayor percepción de facilidad de uso y practicidad en la preparación y desarrollo de las clases.
