Descripción Pacemaker (PM) placement is becoming more frequent. The infection of these devices can be limited to a local infection in the pocket of the subcutaneous or submuscular generator or in the subcutaneous path of the lead, but in some cases the infection can also affect the intravascular path of the device or even affect the heart valves. producing MP-related endocarditis. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the evolution of care and hospital treatment of patients with MP pocket infection. Infection of the permanent pacemaker pocket is treated by percutaneous techniques or open heart surgery, the first is not a common practice and the second is often contraindicated. A study of direct intervention in the management and approach to the care of a patient with pacemaker pocket infection was carried out, single group modality. The admission diagnosis of the studied case was pacemaker pocket infection, the pacemaker cable attached to the vena cava was removed, being infected by Pseudomonas auroginosa after 32 days of hospital stay and antimicrobial coverage. It was possible to correct the alteration due to pacemaker pocket infection, evolving positively, after successful surgery with the removal of the cable without complications.
Descripción La colocación de marcapasos (MP) es cada vez más frecuente. La infección de estos dispositivos puede limitarse a una infección local en el bolsillo del generador subcutáneo o sub muscular o en el trayecto subcutáneo del cable, pero en algunos casos la infección puede afectar también al trayecto intravascular del dispositivo o llegar a afectar a las válvulas cardiacas produciendo una endocarditis relacionada con MP. El objetivo de este estudio es evidenciar la evolución del cuidado y tratamiento hospitalario del paciente con infección de bolsillo de MP.  La infección de la bolsa del marcapasos permanente se trata mediante técnicas percutáneas o cirugía cardíaca a cielo abierto, la primera no es una práctica habitual y la segunda muchas veces está contraindicada. Se realizó un estudio de intervención directa en el manejo y abordaje del cuidado de paciente con infección de bolsillo de marcapaso, modalidad grupo único. El diagnóstico de ingreso del caso estudiado fue infección de bolsillo del marcapaso, al mismo se le realiza el retiro de cable de marcapaso adherido a la vena cava siendo este infectado por Pseudomona auroginosa a sus 32 días de estancia hospitalaria y cobertura antimicrobiana. Se logró corregir la alteración por infección de bolsillo de marcapaso, evolucionando positivamente, luego de la cirugía exitosa con el retiro del cable sin complicaciones.
