This article presents the results of research carried out in the Banana Farms of COOBANA R.L. and Chiquita Panama LLC., in Changuinola, province of Bocas del Toro, Panama, with the aim of analyzing and describing the implications and importance of Occupational Safety and Hygiene, as well as identifying the factors of working conditions related to the Quality of Work Life. A mixed approach was used in the methodology; and for the data collection a questionnaire was applied to 30 administrative collaborators and 201 workers in the farms of COOBANA R.L.; a questionnaire was also applied to 132 administrative collaborators and 357 workers of the farms of Chiquita Panama LLC. These findings reaffirm the importance of humanization of work environments that must be a fundamental criterion in the administration of human resources and the achievement of organizational objectives. En este artículo se presentan los resultados de investigación realizada en las Fincas Bananeras de COOBANA R.L. y Chiquita Panamá LLC., en Changuinola, provincia de Bocas del Toro, Panamá, con el objetivo de analizar y describir las implicaciones e importancia de la Seguridad e Higiene Ocupacional, así como también identificar los factores de las condiciones del trabajo relacionados con la Calidad de Vida Laboral. En la metodología se utilizó un enfoque mixto; y para la recopilación de los datos se aplicó un cuestionario a 30 colaboradores administrativos y a 201 operarios en las fincas de COOBANA R.L.; también se aplicó un cuestionario a 132 colaboradores administrativos y a 357 operarios de las fincas de Chiquita Panamá LLC. Estos hallazgos reafirman la importancia de la humanización de los entornos de trabajo que debe ser un criterio fundamental en la administración de recursos humanos y para la consecución de los objetivos organizacionales.
