This article, based on a qualitative study through a literature review - analysis and understanding - evaluates the importance of universal accessibility in Panamanian natural and cultural tourism environments. Nowadays, when the demand of people with disabilities is growing, many tourist destinations have adopted the corresponding measures in order to satisfy the needs of this market segment, which represents an important value for their economies. Therefore, accessible tourism becomes a necessary element and is not only a human rights issue, but on the contrary, it becomes a business opportunity, being good for everyone. This bibliographic review has made it possible to reproduce the theoretical foundations and findings obtained by other researchers, academics and professionals who, from a critical, explicit and social perspective, have contributed to the construction of knowledge of the problems addressed, and have also made it possible to conclude that, despite having a great variety of natural and cultural resources in our country, the will on the part of the actors still does not exist, The will on the part of the actors is still not sufficient to channel and develop this type of tourism, which is why it should be emphasised that the most effective way is to guarantee through governance (State, private companies and civil society) actions and strategies aimed at promoting in an effective and efficient manner, to be able to achieve the goal of becoming an "Accessible Destination" in the future. RESUMEN
El presente articulo basado en un estudio cualitativo a través de una revisión bibliográfica en una revisión bibliográfica -analisis y comprensión-, evalúa la importancia de la accesibilidad universal en los entornos naturales y culturales turísticos panameños. Hoy, la demanda de personas con discapacidad está en crecimiento, muchos destinos turísticos han adoptado las medidas correspondientes para poder satisfacer las necesidades de este segmento de mercado, el cual representa un importante valor para las economías. Esta revisión bibliográfica ha permitido reproducir los fundamentos teóricos y hallazgos obtenidos por otros investigadores, académicos y profesionales que, desde una perspectiva crítica, explícita y social han contribuido a la construcción del conocimiento de la problemática abordada, y de igual manera, han permitido concluir, que aun teniendo una gran variedad recursos naturales y culturales, en nuestro país, la voluntad por parte de los actores todavía no son las suficientes para encauzar y desarrollar este tipo de turismo, por lo que se debe resaltar que la vía más efectiva, es garantizar a través de gobernanzas (Estado, Empresas Privadas y Sociedad Civil) acciones y estrategias tendientes a promover de manera efectiva y eficaz, el poder alcanzar esa meta de convertirnos en un “Destino Accesible” a futuro.
