Descripción The research aims to assess the health and social impact of COVID-19 on people with disabilities and their families, in the National Network of Families Inclusion Panama. The purpose was to know the social and health impact of people with disabilities and their families in the face of COVID-19. The Method of the study was descriptive and cross-sectional through the participation of the Persons with Disabilities themselves and their families. The sample consisted of 52 families. The results show that during COVID 19 there were differences in access to health care due to the lack of accessibility to information, and poor communication. The impact that COVID 19 has had on the lives of people with disabilities reveals that media prevention has helped to understand that lifestyles must be changed. Conclusions: obtain relevant, objective and valid information about the impact that the pandemic in the health and social spheres had a direct impact on people with disabilities in Panama.
Descripción La investigación tiene como objetivo valorar el impacto sanitario y social frente a la COVID-19 en las personas con discapacidad y sus familias, en la Red Nacional de Familias Inclusión Panamá. La finalidad fue conocer el impacto social y de salud de las personas con discapacidad y sus familias ante el COVID-19. El Método del estudio fue descriptivo y transversal a través de la participación de las propias Personas con Discapacidad y sus familias. La muestra estuvo constituida por 52 familias. Los resultados muestran durante el COVID 19 se evidenció diferencias en el acceso a la atención de la salud por la falta de accesibilidad a la información, y la escasa comunicación. El impacto que ha tenido el COVID 19 en las vidas de las personas con discapacidad revelan que, la prevención mediática ha ayudado para entender que hay que cambiar el estilo de vida. Conclusiones: obtener información relevante, objetiva y válida acerca del impacto que la pandemia en el ámbito sanitario y social incidieron directamente en las personas con discapacidad en Panamá.
