Descripción This is a descriptive cross-sectional study that analyzes the behavior in the areas of family and socioeconomic functioning in bedridden older adults. The target population was 160 adults receiving health care services at Roberto Ramírez de Diego Polyclinic and the sample consisted of 34 patients, family members and responsible persons. The instrument used was a structured survey and the results were analyzed using the SPSS20 statistical package. The results indicate that: the older adults have insufficient economic income, most of them are property owners, their homes do not have basic infrastructure for their care and attention, but they value the attention programs and their strategies; they consider the family functioning area as pertinent; however, they show weaknesses in the dimensions of permeability, cohesion and roles. Those responsible for the elderly are mostly female family members who have elementary educational levels, are full-time and unpaid. The policies and norms applied by the Institution are considered pertinent for family functioning and the Social Worker is considered to fulfill the roles of counselor, mediator, and generator of family strengthening.
Descripción Es un estudio de corte transversal descriptivo que analiza el comportamiento que presentan las áreas del funcionamiento familiar y socio económico en adultos mayores encamados. La población objeto fue de 160 adultos que reciben servicios de la Policlínica Roberto Ramírez de Diego y la muestra fue de 34 pacientes, familiares y personas responsables. El instrumento empleado fue una encuesta estructurada y los resultados se analizaron mediante el paquete estadístico SPSS20, Los resultados indican que: los adultos mayores tienen ingresos económicos insuficientes, en su mayoría, son dueños de la propiedad, sus hogares no tienen infraestructura básica ,para su cuidado y atención, pero valoran los programas de atención y sus estrategias; consideran pertinente el funcionamiento familiar, sin embargo, manifiestan debilidades en las dimensiones de permeabilidad, cohesión y roles. Los responsables del adulto mayor, en su mayoría, familiares, del sexo femenino, tienen niveles educativos elementales, con dedicación a tiempo completo y sin remuneración. Las políticas y normas aplicadas por la Institución, las consideran pertinentes para el funcionamiento familiar y consideran que el Trabajador Social cumple con los roles de orientador, mediador y generador de fortalecimiento familiar.
