Descripción The objective of this article is to present the current situation of knowledge management and communication in the Faculty of Informatics, Electronics and Communication (FIEC) at the University of Panama, of the administrative and teaching staff with administrative positions; this was achieved by analyzing the data obtained from the surveys, interviews with the personnel involved and the application of other techniques such as observation and review of documents. It was found that the exchange of information between the administrative units, both internal and external, does not cover all the needs of knowledge management and communication, in addition there is no structured work methodology. In this sense, we can deduce that we are facing a problem that affects various processes, for this reason, we infer that these must be automated to carry out a better control of knowledge management and communication.
Descripción El objetivo de este artículo es plantear la situación actual de la gestión de conocimiento y comunicación en la Facultad de Informática, Electrónica y Comunicación (FIEC) de la Universidad de Panamá, del personal administrativo y docente con cargos administrativos; esto se logró analizando los datos obtenidos de las encuestas, entrevistas al personal involucrado y la aplicación de otras técnicas como la observación y revisión de documentos. Se encontró que el intercambio de información entre las unidades administrativas de la FIEC, tanto internas como externas, no abarca todas las necesidades de gestión de conocimiento y comunicación, además no existe una metodología de trabajo estructurada. En este sentido, podemos deducir que nos enfrentamos ante un problema que afecta diversos procesos, por tal razón, inferimos que éstos deben ser sistematizados y automatizados para llevar a cabo un mejor control del manejo del conocimiento y la comunicación.
