The processes of adaptation and mitigation to climate change are given in all the contextsin which the incidence of said phenomenon has affected. We can understand adaptation asthe process of adjusting to the expected climate and its effects, in order to moderate the damage or take advantage of beneficial opportunities, while mitigation is about reducing the damage and consequences, even when the problem already exists, move towards more renewable energies by transforming our energy matrixes in order to slow down the road todisaster a little. In Cuba, various actions and measures have been carried out over the yearsto mitigate the consequences of climate change and with the aim of adapting vulnerablecommunities to the environment that has been created by the accelerated increase intemperatures in recent years. . All of the above begins with the approval of the Life Task ofthe Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), the governing document forthe protection of the Environment and the fight against climate change on the island. Itincludes tasks and strategic actions for the identification of vulnerable areas and placesand their effects. In the following article, several of the actions carried out in Cuba in orderto mitigate the problems given in these risk territories and the mode of adaptation thatthey must acquire to avoid an increase in the damage caused by climate change will bepresented. Los procesos de adaptación y mitigación al cambio climático son dados en todos loscontextos en los cuales ha afectado la incidencia de dicho fenómeno. Podemos entender laadaptación como el proceso de ajuste al clima previsto y sus efectos, con el fin de moderarel daño o aprovechar las oportunidades beneficiosas, mientras que la mitigación se t ratareducir los daños y las consecuencias, aun cuando el problema ya es existente, transitarhacia energías más renovables transformando nuestras matrices energéticas con el fin defrenar un poco el camino hacia el desastre. En Cuba, se han realizado a lo largo de los añosdiversas acciones y medidas para mitigar las consecuencias del cambio climático y con elobjetivo de adaptar las comunidades vulnerables al ambiente que se ha ido creando porel aumento acelerado de las temperaturas en los últimos años. Todo lo anterior comienzacon la aprobación de la Tarea Vida del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente(CITMA), documento rector de la protección al Medio Ambiente y lucha contra el cambioclimático en la isla. Incluye tareas y acciones estratégicas para la identificación de zonas ylugares vulnerables y sus afectaciones. En el siguiente artículo se expondrán varias de lasacciones realizadas en Cuba en post de mitigar las problemáticas dadas en estos territoriosde riesgo y el modo de adaptación que deben adquirir para evitar un incremento de losdaños causados por el cambio climático.
