Descripción The objective of this study was to know the level of emotional intelligence presented by a group of first-year students from the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Panama. Within this research, we also sought to establish whether the differences in emotional intelligence between men and women and the study shift were significant. The type of study was descriptive-comparative, with a non-experimental research design. We worked with 42 students to whom the Constructive Thinking Inventory (CTI) was applied, a measure of emotional intelligence. The results through this instrument showed that the majority of those evaluated presented a Global Constructive Thinking below the average, therefore, they have a rigid way of thinking, they adapt with difficulty to situations, they are critical of themselves and with others. others, which can make your interpersonal relationships difficult. No significant differences were found in the Constructive Thinking scale between male and female students of the Faculty of Psychology who were in the first year of both shifts, that is, sex was not a factor that influenced constructive thinking.
Descripción El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer el nivel de inteligencia emocional que presenta un grupo de estudiantes de primer ingreso de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Panamá. Dentro de esta investigación también se pretendió establecer si las diferencias en la inteligencia emocional entre hombres y mujeres y el turno de estudio fueron significativas. El tipo de estudio fue descriptivo comparativo, con un diseño de investigación no experimental. Se trabajó con 42 estudiantes a los cuales se les aplicó el Inventario de Pensamiento Constructivo (CTI), una medida de la inteligencia emocional. Los resultados a través de este instrumento demostraron que la mayoría de los evaluados presentaron un pensamiento constructivo global por debajo de la media, por ende, tienen un modo de pensamiento rígido, se adaptan con dificultad a las situaciones, son críticos consigo mismos y con los demás, lo cual puede dificultar sus relaciones interpersonales. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en las escalas de Pensamiento Constructivo entre los estudiantes de sexo masculino y femenino de la Facultad de Psicología que cursaban el primer año de ambos turnos, es decir, el sexo no fue un factor que influyera en el pensamiento constructivo.
