Traditionally, human anatomy is learned through plastic models, illustrative atlases and real cadavers; nowadays, virtual and interactive tools, internet applications, virtual reality and virtual dissection tables with 3D images of real cadavers are used. However, there is controversy over the preference of tools. In Panama, this topic has not been studied in the universities that use these technologies. The objective of this research was to describe the impact that virtual dissection has on the learning of anatomy in medical students at the Universidad Latina de Panamá. Through action research, a mixed analysis was carried out, the population was focused on students taking the subject during the periods 2021-2, 2022 and 2023-1 excluding pandemic periods, 135 students participated and a questionnaire was applied through the SurveyMonkey application on a Likert scale that was validated by specialist judgment. The results show that 86% of the participants value the virtual dissection to facilitate the understanding of what was learned in the theoretical class and 89% consider that the Table has tools that favor the learning of the subject. The conclusions mention that virtual dissection is an adequate complement for the teaching-learning of human anatomy since it provides the student with strategies for the construction of his own knowledge through the repetitive visualization of images, the interactive management of the Table, the facility to identify organs, systems and their anatomical relationships.
Descripción Tradicionalmente el aprendizaje de la anatomía humana se realiza a través de modelos plásticos, atlas ilustrativos y cadáveres reales; actualmente se utilizan herramientas virtuales e interactivas, aplicaciones en internet, realidad virtual y las mesas de disección virtual con imágenes en 3D de cadáveres reales. Sin embargo, existe controversia por la preferencia de herramientas. Las universidades panameñas que usan esta tecnología aún no han publicado estudios sobre este tema. El objetivo de esta investigación fue valorar el efecto de la disección virtual en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la anatomía humana en los estudiantes de Medicina en la Universidad Latina de Panamá. A través de la investigación-acción se realizó un análisis mixto, la población se centró en estudiantes cursantes de la asignatura durante los periodos 2021-2, 2022 y 2023-1 excluyendo periodos de pandemia, participaron 135 estudiantes y se aplicó un cuestionario a través de la aplicación SurveyMonkey en escala de Likert que fue validado por juicio de especialista. Los resultados muestran que el 86% de los participantes valora la disección virtual para facilitar la comprensión de lo aprendido en la clase teórica y el 89% considera que la Mesa posee herramientas que favorecen el aprendizaje de la asignatura. Las conclusiones mencionan que la disección virtual es un complemento adecuado para la enseñanza-aprendizaje de la anatomía humana ya que aporta al estudiante estrategias para la construcción de su propio conocimiento a través de la visualización repetitiva de imágenes, el manejo interactivo de la Mesa, facilidad para identificar órganos, sistemas y sus relaciones anatómicas.
