Descripción Introduction: Chronic renal failure is increasing and with it the number of people who must resort to starting hemodialysis treatment; This brings with it a series of changes in their daily lives from their diet, personal hygiene and time for their activities, among others, and a greater responsibility that lies in the care and cleaning of the vascular accesses. The objective of this research is to measure the knowledge of hemodialysis patients after offering training regarding the care of transient vascular access. Method: The type of study is an intervention project carried out in three phases: a- pretest application, b- intervention execution, c- postest application; In this manuscript we will present the descriptive phase of the results of the post-test; The sample is non-probabilistic for convenience, 49 participants with well-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, research carried out in Panama in the hemodialysis room of the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex. Results: the main signs of infection identified by patients are fever 73% and catheter secretions 44.8%, signs of infections that lead to the main bacteremia and endocarditis in the patient; It should be noted that after the interventions carried out by nursing regarding the care of vascular access during bathing, they indicate that 98% know how to perform this care. Conclusions: educational nursing interventions are essential to increase the knowledge of hemodialysis patients in the prevention of infections and complications in transient vascular access.
Descripción Introducción: La insuficiencia renal crónica va en aumento y con ello la cantidad de personas que deben recurrir a iniciar tratamiento de hemodiálisis; esto trae consigo una serie de cambio en su diario vivir desde su alimentación, aseo personal y tiempo para sus actividades entre otras y una responsabilidad mayor que reposa en el cuidado y limpieza de los accesos vasculares. El objetivo de esta investigación es medir el conocimiento de los pacientes de hemodiálisis luego de ofrecer un entrenamiento con respecto al cuidado de los accesos vasculares transitorios. Método: El tipo de estudio es un proyecto de intervención realizado en tres fases: a- aplicación de prest- test, b- ejecución de la intervención, c- aplicación del post- test; en este manuscrito presentaremos la fase descriptiva de los resultados del post test; la muestra es no probabilística por conveniencia 49 participantes con criterios de inclusión y exclusión bien definidos, investigación realizada en Panamá en la sala de hemodiálisis del Complejo Hospitalario Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid. Resultados: los principales signos de infección que identifican los pacientes es la fiebre 73% y las secreciones de catéter un 44.8%, signos de infecciones que conducen a las principales bacteriemias y endocarditis al paciente; cabe señalar que luego de las intervenciones realizadas por enfermería referente al Cuidado del acceso vascular durante el baño, indican que el 98% conocen como realizar este cuidado. Conclusiones: las intervenciones de enfermería de tipo educativas son fundamentales para aumentar los conocimientos de los pacientes de hemodiálisis en la prevención de infecciones y complicaciones en el acceso vascular transitorio.
