Descripción The purpose of this qualitative design grounded theory and case study was to develop the phonotactic inventory of consonant sounds in the Ngäbere language using published research on the Ngäbere language and bilingual informants of Ngäbere and Spanish who used their native language in their daily lives and who lived or grew up in the Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé. For data collection, a triangulation of data was used — documentary analysis, field recordings, interview, logbook, and observations— that resulted in five types of corpus to which we applied a reduction of open, axial, selective, and acoustic data analysis to define the results. The phonotactics of the phonemes with their allophones of each consonantal grapheme of the Ngäbere alphabet, together with the syllabic structure, and sonority scale were the results of this study.
Descripción El propósito de este estudio de caso y teoría fundamentada de diseño cualitativo fue desarrollar el inventario fonotáctico de los sonidos consonánticos del idioma Ngäbere con investigaciones ya publicadas acerca del idioma Ngäbere e informantes bilingües del Ngäbere y español que usaban su idioma natal en su diario vivir y que vivían o crecieron en la Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé. Como instrumento de recolección se utilizó una triangulación de datos —análisis documental, grabaciones de campo, entrevista, bitácora y observaciones— que resultaron en cinco tipos de corpus a la cual le aplicamos una reducción de análisis de datos abiertos, axial, selectivo y acústico para definir los resultados. La fonotáctica de los fonemas con sus alófonos de cada grafema consonántico del alfabeto Ngäbere, junto con su estructura silábica y escala sonora fueron los resultados de este estudio.
